On September 2nd, 2021 Dr. Matthew Colman presented AVATAR MEDICAL at the 2021 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons(AAOS) held in San Diego, California.
Paris-based, AVATAR MEDICAL has developed a Medical Image VR platform that aims at facilitating the preparation of complex surgeries. As part of his presentation to the AAOS, Dr. Colman presented AVATAR MEDICAL as the next tool to visualize sarcoma to prepare spine surgery Dr. Colman highlighted how the ground-breaking spin-off from the Institut Pasteur and Institut Curie, radically changes how orthopedic surgeons will be able to access, interpret and act upon the valuable clinical information contained in medical images.
A member of the AAOS, Dr. Matthew Colman specializes in spine surgery and musculoskeletal oncology. He has an interest in treating bone and soft tissue tumors wherever they occur, including the spine. He also treats a comprehensive set of non-tumor-related spinal problems, including degenerative disease, deformity, and trauma.
AVATAR MEDICAL is currently a Research Use Only device. The full commercial deployment of the regulatory approved (FDA and CE) version of the software platform is expected in 2022.
